Vintage, vintage vintage.

Electric Guest, “This Head I Hold”

Mondo, 2012

Vintage motown grooves and rnb hooks get a hipster makeover on Electric Guest’s single from their newly released album.

Tinkly piano kicks off proceedings before the drums start shuffling in a rhythm circa The Supremes. Asa Taccone’s creamy falsetto proves to be a vocal love child of Diana Ross and Donovan. It wafts above a clicky, hopping backing of keyboards and swaying bass.

Electric Guest are masters at successfully turning old 60’s Detroit grooves into short snaps of delicious, radio-ready hipster tunes. A happy, finger clicking single.
