Friends, “Mind Control”


Brooklyn band Friends have enjoyed a ridiculously quick rise to fame- it was only 6 days between their first jam and their first gig, and then only weeks after that they had scored a European label and had an album in the works.

“Mind Control” goes a long way to explain the reason for this rapid success- a staccato pop funk track with wafts of eighties synth and the flighty presence of Samantha Urbani’s vocals. Whether they’re trying to control our minds or not, it’s hard not to groove with a guitar riff that sharp.
