The Rubens don’t ever want to be found

The Rubens, “Don’t Ever Want To Be Found”

TBD (Ivy League Records)

When single “Lay It Down” was released late last year, it hit the sweet spot between crushing soul blues and dreamy indie, a sound which propelled them to instant fame. Follow up “My Gun” was darker and more rounded, echoing tracks by fellow Australians The Beautiful Girls.

New single “Don’t Ever Want To Be Found” is just as strong as the first, with subtle spins of crisp guitar bouncing against the skittery drums. Production is slick, and there are enough pop hooks to make this gentle rocker a cross over smash.
